Influence of aging treatment on mechanical properties and wear resistance of medium manganese steel reinforced with Ti(C,N) particles

Abstract In this study, the hot rolled medium manganese steel containing titanium was solution treated at 1,000 °C and followed by aging treatment 500, 550, 600 °C. The influence of on mechanical properties wear resistance reinforced with Ti(C,N) particles investigated. It found that matrix austenite. austenite grain size refined, were precipitated after treatment. Compared to as-hot sample, initial hardness 500 aged sample increased 9.5% 312.86 HV, whose impact energy more than doubled 148.5 J. As temperature raised °C, changed slightly. However, dropped significantly 8 J due aggregation Mn boundaries. addition, main mechanisms samples fatigue abrasive wear. worth noting exhibited best under a 300 N applied load, loss just half sample. relationship between indicated independent hardness. large difference in predominately outstanding work hardening ability strengthening contributed from transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) effect, dislocation strengthening, twinning (TWIP) precipitation strengthening.
